Arts Whistler writes: 

Experience a new taste of Whistler’s eclectic cultural mix on this guided walking tour. This tour starts at Mountain Galleries. On this guided Wine Walk, enjoy a glass of wine and interactive art experiences as you peruse art at four art galleries and culminating your journey at the Audain Art Museum with a guided tour and short curatorial talk, plus more wine, canapes and music. The Whistler Wine Walk is in partnership with #gowhistler and #fairmountwhistlr.

It was a pleasure to be invited to paint live during the Wine Walk through the Mountain Galleries, and talk with so many art enthusiasts!

On Brights Gallery Walls

I am elated to see my new paintings arriving on the gallery walls of Brights Gallery. They’re front and center, on full view for art enthusiasts.

An Intensive Art Workshop with Brian Atyeo

Using acrylic paint, we explored this medium pushing it in wonderfully organic ways using transparent and opaque layers. The goal is to create depth using strong contrast in both tonal and color value, and richness to our paintings. It was a fun group of dedicated artists who gather yearly to work with Brian and gleen insights into his methodology and perhaps have some of it spill into our work. If nothing else, the beautiful Pemberton setting was soothing for the artistic soul.

Whistler Art Residency

Met so many wonderful people, young and old. A team of young dancers dropped on a regular basis to see the progress on my paintings. It’s nice to connect with people and luxuriate in the comforts of the Chateau Fairmont Whistler. Well this makes three art residencies with Mountain Galleries this summer!

I witnessed the professionalism of the Mountain Galleries team, chatted with happy travellers, and had the rare opportunity to share my art process with everyone. AIR nourished my creative soul.

Going Big with a Sweet Painting

Mama’s Li’l Tough Guy, stretches a grand 36 x 72”. I love the story the painting shares with the viewer. The focus is the cub, with mama bear playing a supporting role.

First Saturday in 1000 Parker Street

Join me on June 3, for my first ever First Saturday art show. It’s a quick pop up for 5 hours only! Crazy! It’s an opportunity to get out of my studio, talk to people, and a chance for everyone to see a preview of my new work.

The Painting Process

Part of my painting process includes organic mark making, and an example of this is loosely and strategically dripping painting with a larger brush. The more haphazard the marks, the better!

Banff YWCA Vineart Auction

Polar North was auctioned to help generate some much needed funds for the YWCA in Banff. The moneys will help prevent, and address gender-based violence, poverty, housing, shelter, and economic insecurity in the Bow Valley.

Art Documentation

An important component of my art is to have it properly documented. I leave that to the professionals. Over the years Alan @fidelisartprints, digitally captures my paintings and carefully ensures that colors align with the originals. No more glare, unwanted shadows, and surprises. What you see is what you get.

Portside Studios Art Weekend

Classes are filling up quickly. I’m offering a painting step by step workshop where we’ll learn how to use transparent and opaque paints to create a wonderful winter berries scene. Fun!

Go Big Or Go Home

Ice King at 48 x 48” is a statement piece.
Perfect for a larger space. Painting larger means addressing the canvas’ vastness, with loads of exploration. I normally take a deep breath, then working in multiple layers of paint, address every inch of canvas.

New Raven Series

Introducing and adding ravens to my repertoire of wildlife paintings. J’en sais quoi, its that way they look at you… curious like. They sure won me over, those smart and clever corvids.
